Uzungöl, which is 99 km from Trabzon and 19 km from Çaykara district, at an altitude of 1090 m above sea level, is a natural lake that is rumored to have formed in the 1600s when soil and rocks slipped from the valley slopes where Şerah village is settled as a result of landslide, blocking the Haldizen creek.
The settlement area formed around it takes its name from “Uzungöl”. Uzungöl, which attracts great attention of local and foreign tourists, has a very high touristic potential. In addition to trekking, bird watching and botanical tours in the lake and Trabzon's highest Haldizen valley, it is possible to organize excursions to the lakes among the higher mountains or to the plateaus where the unique wooden village houses of traditional Black Sea architecture can be visited, as well as the natural beauty of nearby Şekersu, Demirkapı, Yaylaönü. . Haldizen Mountain is 3,325 meters.
The lake, which was formed as a result of the closure of the stream bed as a natural dam as a result of a landslide in the Haldizen valley, exhibits an attractive landscape with its steep slopes and spruce forests covering the slopes of Ali Fatih AKÇAY Yüksel YAVUZ. Uzungöl differs little seasonally in terms of water level. At an altitude of 1090 m, the lake is approximately 1000 meters long, 500 meters wide and 15 meters deep. Natural trout live in the lake.
